Theresa Dinise
Congratulations to Theresa Dinise ('04) for receiving
the 2003-2004 Fretom Research Fund award!

This award is given to a graduating 4th year medical student receiving the highest score on the Clinical Practice Exam. The founders of the Fretom Research Fund, Dr. and Mrs. Thomas H. McGavack, wish that these funds be used to assist and encourage a worthy student to complete his or her studies in one or more branches of the medical sciences.

Theresa was awarded honors in numerous preclinical and clinical courses. She spent the summer between her first and second year of medical school doing her independent study project on gestational diabetes and glyburide here at UCSDs Department of Reproductive Medicine. She received an NIH Summer Research Scholarship for this project and presented her results at the American Federation for Medical Researchs Western Regional Meeting in Carmel, California in February 2002. She is currently working on a final draft of the research for publication. Theresa has been active in the Pro-life community and continues to organize events in the defense life, combating abortion, child abuse, elderly abuse, euthanasia and the death penalty. She will be traveling to Sonsonate, El Salvador in November to help bring health care to the medically under served people of this village.

We congratulate her on the Fretom Research Award and wish her great success in her medical career.
