UCSD Medical Students joined the crew of the USNS Mercy in July 2012, to participate in a humanitarian medical mission in Southeast Asia.  UCSD School of Medicine was represented by a group of 9 students comprised of MSII's & MSIV's.  While providing an outstanding learning experience for all that participated, the mission also served as an Away Rotation for the MSIV's.  They assisted with medical translations, patient screenings to evaluate surgical candidates, and participated in surgical procedures.  Over 3000 patients were seen during this mission.
